I was admiring Sacred Datura blossoms while I was comforting my dog against the blasts of fireworks last night.

Datura is well known for being poisonous. But it’s actually a really good pain killer in some cases when used topically as a salve or oil. It’s also known for its traditional use as an entheogen that’s taken in small amounts to induce a trance state during rituals.

It’s a desert plant that’s easy to grow from seed and it doesn’t require much water. Datura is a good plant protection spirit to welcome into your home.

DISCLAIMER: in NO way do I encourage *anyone* to ever orally consume this plant. Even topically, like with any plant, there’s always the risk of allergy. Please consult with your medical provider before using herbal remedies.
