Limoncillo / lemon scented chinchweed (Pectis angustifolia) has become one of my favorite herbs to take as a beverage. It was introduced to me several years ago by my neighbor after she made a salve with it. It was love at first whiff!! Its scent is just really quite pleasant. And it has a pleasant taste too.
Limoncillo is has carminative properties – it’s contains volatile oils that soothe the GI tract so it was traditionally used to treat bloating, gas, indigestion, etc.
If you do a web search on limoncillo, you’ll find lots of references to Indigenous uses. The Zuni used it as a perfume and, let me tell, they sure had the right idea with that one! Did I mention it smells good? 😉
