Description
This culinary herb found in most kitchens is such a wonderful remedy! Rosemary has affinities for various systems of the body including the circulatory system, nervous system, and digestive system. It’s a circulatory stimulant that can help to clear stagnant blood and strengthen the arteries and capillary beds. It’s also a carminative with warming volatile oils that help stimulate the liver and gall bladder, aiding in digestion. It also works as a nervine stimulant that can be useful for certain nerve disorders such as peripheral neuropathy.
Our spagyric* tincture is made with fresh harvested rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) from our herb gardens. Using fresh rosemary rather than dried helps ensure we capture the broad spectrum of biochemical constituents including its volatile oils, most of which evaporate during the drying process. If you’re taking rosemary tincture to help stimulate blood flow to the extremities, consider pairing it with our Rosemary Salve.
Ingredients: fresh rosemary extraction in pure grain alcohol, distilled water.
Contraindications: Rosemary is a culinary herb and therefore considered a safe herb for use. It does have an emmenagogue action though, so avoid higher doses while pregnant. Due to its nerve stimulation properties, it also has the potential to aggravate symptoms for those with nervousness and anxiety.
*A spagyric is an alchemical procedure in which you purify the strained Body (plant material) by Fire in a process called calcination and add it back to the tincture solution in a process called the “Chymical Wedding.” It’s a reunion of the plant medicine’s Body with its Soul and Spirit after purifying the Body. Spagyrics are considered by alchemists to be the most “whole-istic” version of a plant medicine, making it a more potent version of a tincture.
